Health Information Week, 20th-26th January – Health Literacy and Misinformation
Join Cornwall Health Library as we celebrate Health Information Week THIS WEEK.
One of our themes is Health Literacy and Misinformation
As you may be aware, misinformation, fact checking and literacy, particularly online, are topics that are affecting us worldwide. It is essential that when we and our patients are looking for healthcare information, that the information found is from the best and most trusted official sources.
This resource list at the bottom of this post helps includes resources (including books) based on topics such as:
- Health Literacy, Misinformation, disinformation and finding trusted information – resources for the public & staff
Plus Resources for healthcare professionals, librarians and information producers to use in patient and staff interactions

We have recently updated our Health Literacy page. Why not have a look?
What is Health Information Week?
Health Information Week (#HIW) a week in which NHS Libraries share resources and hold events around certain topics that are important in healthcare for staff and patients to use.
What have we to offer for the two themes?
We have created two information resource lists available online (links to the details above) and displays in our main library that include online services, information and books (both eBook & print) that may help you with your own and your patients’ healthcare.
Why should you use it?
Health Information Week is a national, multi-sector campaign to promote high quality information. High quality health information can have a huge impact on your ability to stay healthy and manage illnesses effectively, giving you a better quality of life.
Feel free to share the links with your teams and with your patients.
Posters are available if you wish to share them in your departments or patient areas – please email Sinead Blowers for more information.
