Chief Nursing Officer’s Research Fellowship Program
The South West Clinicla School in Cornwall has opened Fellowship Applications for this year!
Are you a registered nurse, allied health professional, midwife or nursing associate (AfC Band 4,5,6) with a minimum of twelve-month post-qualification experience. Are you keen to further develop your research and evidence implementation skills in practice?
The next Chief Nursing Officer’s Research Fellowship Programme starts this September; the Clinical School team are recruiting fellows for cohort six over the summer. Are you ready to apply?
You will be seconded to the Clinical School a day-a-fortnight over twelve months to complete the programme.
Time on the programme is structured across three personal developmental domains:
•Research knowledge and skills development to support a practice-based change project using the JBI Evidence Implementation Framework
•Research delivery knowledge development and experience
•Clinical academic mentorship and career development planning
Eligibility criteria:
– You will be a Registered Nurse, Nursing Associate, Midwife or Allied Health Professional – You will have a RCHT or CFT employment contract
– You will be employed at Agenda for Change Band 4 (Nursing Associate) 5 or 6
– You will have at least 12-months post-registration experience in practice (by Sept. 2026)
– You will have a great evidence informed change idea relevant to your clinical setting
– You can demonstrate a passion for research and its connection your future career plans

Application and recruitment process
– The process is competitive for ten funded places (five Fellow’s from each Trust)
– Application is via electronic application form, completed and submitted before a deadline
– The application for will include a #400word support statement – this will be judged to proceed to the interview stage of the application process
– Line Manager support for your application is essential, supporting your release a day-a-fortnight for twelve-months from Thursday 17 September 2026
– The closing date for applications is 12 midday on Friday 17 July 2026
– Interviews will be scheduled and conducted by the end of that month (31 July 2026)
– Successful programme Fellow’s will be notified the week after.
